Anna Chaplain
Our Anna Chaplain, Margaret Burnham has provided the following update:
“I have committed to one day a week on a voluntary basis – it rarely stays at one day! However, work includes:
Visiting Arthur Dann Court, a sheltered accommodation Complex in liaison with the manager and support staff. I offer informal time of worship with traditional hymns.
After the service there is time to chat or visit one to one. I also hold additional services during lent and Advent. A Christingle service was enjoyed and raised funds for the children’s society.
Residents visited St Peter and St Pauls for a talk followed by tea and cake.
A memorial service was held for those who died in the last year.
During Lent I offered a short activity the Lenten Lite Bite an informal discussion on Lenten themes.
I engage with older persons in our community where we celebrated older persons / grandparents’ day with afternoon tea and Golden years games.
I attend leadership team meetings and as a member of the leadership team I receive referrals for those requiring visits in the community. Referrals are also received via social services and social prescribers for in person visits and telephone befriending.
I also attend various online and in person training sessions and networking events.
I am recruiting “Anna Friends” but as yet I have no friends! If you would like to find out more or are interested in joining me please come and chat.”
